오페라에서 사람을 구하다.

A recruiter contacted me regarding opera's recruiting one month ago. She said Opera (http://www.opera.com) is finding Mobile Browser Developers who will be assigned in Seoul, Korea. And She added opera preferred a freak.



I have used 3 market-leading browsers. I use IE to browse domestic web sites because they usually required me to install ActiveX controls. To google, I use FireFox. Lastly, to connect intranet site through proxy, I use Opera browser. Opera browser is fast, but I don't like its User Interface, especially downloading panel. I will give my feedbacks to Opera if I can work for Opera.



However, I canceled applying for Opera. Did I just throw out any chance to work for international company? I am already over my limit. :-)

얼마전, 그러니까 약 한달전쯤 국내의 한 리크루팅 회사에서 연락이 왔다. 내용의 골자는 '오페라([wp]opera[/wp])'에서 사람을 구하고 있으며, 괴짜였으면 좋겠다는 말도 들었다.



내가 사용하고 있는 브라우저는 크게 3개인데, 국내 사이트를 돌아다닐 때는 IE를 사용하고, 구글 검색을 할 때에는 불여우, 그리고 Proxy로 연결하여 내부 자료를 검색하고 싶을 때에는 오페라를 사용한다. 오페라는 다른 여타 브라우저에 뒤지지 않을만큼 뛰어난 성능을 제공하며, 특히 로딩 속도가 빠르다. 다만 몇가지 UI적으로 불편한 점들이 있는데, 혹시라도 내가 오페라에 가게 되면 그런 부분들에 대해서 적극적으로 피드백을 주고 싶은 마음도 있었다.



이유를 밝힐 순 없지만, 오페라 취업은 중단하기로 했다. 외국계 기업에서 일해보는 즐거움을 스스로 차버린건가? 지금 진행되는 것만으로도 벅차다.



관심있는 사람들은 지원해보는것도 좋은 생각일듯 싶다.

Mobile Browser Developers

Location: Seoul, Korea

Help bring the best Internet experience to Mobile devices.

Opera is seeking exceptional and experienced engineers to continue our innovation and market lead into browsing on Mobile devices, including cellular phones, Portable Media Players, Web tablets, and car navigation systems. You will develop solutions and products for WinCE, Windows Mobile, Linux or BREW based devices and deliver these onto devices for leading manufacturers of mobile and consumer electronics.

Responsibilities

• Participate and contribute in all parts of the software development life cycle
• Innovate, design and deliver new features and versions
• Take initiative and ensure timely delivery of Opera to OEMs
• The first 12 months will be spent in Opera's offices in Norway/Sweden

Requirements (1 or more)

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent. Newly graduated candidates are encouraged to apply
• Drive and commitment to work in a highly dynamic environment
• Strong C++ skills and firm understanding of object oriented programming
• Experience with optimization of embedded platforms for speed, footprint and/or memory
• Good knowledge of web standards
• Good working knowledge of English

Ideals (one or more)

• Previous experience in WinCE, Windows Mobile, Linux or BREW programming will be highly regarded
• Previous experience with interaction design/usability work
• An ability to meet deadlines
